Proper care of your tattoo is YOUR responsibility. Just like anyhting else, if you take care of it, it will look it’s best. If you don’t, it won’t!
-Make sure you wash your hands thoroughly before touching you tattoo for any reason; EVERYTIME!
-Remove bandage after 1-2 hours. Wash carefully with a mild anti-bacterial soap and warm water. Pat dry with a paper towel. DO NOT WIPE WITH A TOWEL!
-Do not rebandage
-Apply a VERY thin coat of A&D Ointment, rub it in gently, but well. Wash the tattoo and reapply ointment 2-3 times per day for the first 3 days. After the first 3 days switch to a mild hand lotion and apply it in the same way for the next 7-10 days.
-Avoid any lotion with perfumes, dyes or additives; especially aloe or vitamin E. Some brand names that work well for most people are Vaseline Intensive Care and Original Nivea.
-Sometimes ointments and lotions will clog your pores causing small pimples or red bumps similar to heat rash around the tattoo. Discontinue using ointment/ lotion if any of these appear and let the tattoo dry heal. The pimples will usually clear up in a few days.
-ABSOLUTELY NO sunbathing, swimming, soaking, exercising the area or tight/binding clothing on your tattoo until the healing process is complete. (At least 2 weeks to a month)
-DO NOT pick or scratch at the tattoo while it is healing. You will pull the color directly out of your tattoo.
-After it is healed, use sunblock when you are outdoors to prevent fading.
